Song of Songs – extract 477 – work in progress

This is him, this is her, introductions
Fly as the crowd thickened, wide
Eyes, handshakes, nudges, cries
“You simply must, oh, you must”
Eyes searching, gazing, exploring
Measuring, judging, valuing
Dodging, ducking, running away
“Who’s that?”
“Who’s she?”
“Who’s he?”
The sea of humanity churned
The rank of singers joined by mates
Loves and friends, admirers
Colleagues, cohorts, partners, minions
Leading long paths of knowing
Reserved, removed, reversed
Left aloft, the heat soon rising
Dreaming of loves, warming my way
Some call me the gangster of love
And their bombs and their bombs and their guns
In the evening when the day is through
Some days I pray for silence
Every death is a tragedy
Honey you’ll lose me and you’ll be left alone
Can’t sit still, up out of my seat
I think it’s very vital
Mere alcohol doesn’t thrill me at all
You know I’m straight tripping
We can’t afford to build our hopes up too high
