A woman sat with a cello between her thighs, a long bow clasped in her right hand caressing the strings in a long steady stroke as her left hand patterned across the string tops, delicate and divided, each note tensely hanging over the gentle accompaniment of an erstwhile rock band, with a muted electric guitar, bass and drums, rolling in circles beyond the insistent demands of the lady cellist.
