With a groan, Steven struck the back of his head on the short divan’s wooden frame. “Oh, sorry baby, I’m so sorry, I’ll get you some ice. Lean back, gently, here’s a pillow. Don’t close your eyes, baby. Promise me you’ll keep them open.”
