Silver – stanza 13.3

It was getting late, class winding down
When one of the other dancers said
“Wow, how did you do that?” and Allison
Realized everyone was looking at her and
She stopped and said, “What?” and everyone
Grew excited so she did the steps again
Exactly the way she’d done the combination
A thousand times before but they said, “no”
That it was entirely different than anything
I’d ever done, though they admitted I did
It as smoothly and exactly as though I had
Always danced that way and she shrugged
Trying to remember where she had learned
To dance that way and thought it was Denmark
The other dancers insisted on learning the moves
?So she taught them the best she could but for once
She seemed to be a better dancer than teacher
Because none of them seemed able to do it
Half as well as her; she paid it little mind, every
Dancer has a few personal moves, well suited
To body type and background but then the
Scene repeated the next day with a totally
Different combination, and then again and again
At first the change was subtle, a turn here
An extension there but after a few weeks of this
It became obvious that Allison was a better
Dancer than anyone expected and while much
Of her dancing was still mediocre, she was
Learning, changing, transforming her ability
